SIZE:

My sample blanket made with fingering weight yarn scraps measures 38” (96.5 cm) x 60” (152 cm).

YARN:

500 g of any fingering or sock weight yarn scraps and leftover mini skeins will work great for this project. If you decide to use a heavier weight yarn, you will end up with a larger blanket.

NOTIONS:

*Progress keeper or clip on style st marker to indicate RS of work.
*Scissors

HOOK:

I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook

GAUGE:

15 dc + 8 rows of dc = 4” (10 cm) on size I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook OR size hook you need to obtain gauge in double crochet (blocked).

Let’s Begin The Free Crochet Pattern

BLANKET:

(All cut ends of yarn will be on one side of your blanket.)

FOUNDATION ROW:

Using CC, ch 141. Skip first ch and work 1DC in each ch across row, ch 2, turn. (140 DC)

DOUBLE CROCHET SECTION:

Rep last row 3 more times or until you have completed 4 rows of DC. Change to MC on last st of last row. Cut CC.

SINGLE CROCHET SECTION:

Work 1 SC in each DC across row, ch 2, turn. (140 SC)

Rep last row 1 more time or until you have completed 2 rows of SC. Change to CC on last st of last row. Cut MC.

You will cont to rep both the DC section and the SC section until your blanket is the size you would like.

BORDER:

Using approx 80 yds (20 g) of any CC you like, work one row of SC all the way around the blanket border, including 3SC in each corner st. When you reach the side of the blanket with all the cut ends, simply work them into your SC border as you cont along.

Now using that same CC yarn, work one row of DC all the way around the blanket border, remembering to work 3DC in each corner st and cont crocheting any loose ends into your border.

FINISHING:

Block your blanket by soaking in warm water and mild soap and then lying flat to dry. Once dry, snip off all yarn ends that you couldn’t weave in.
