How To Crochet The Berry Picking Shawl
This free shawl crochet pattern calls for about 300 grams of fingering weight yarn. I used The Autumn Acorn’s hand dyed yarn in a pretty shade of pink, dyed right in my kitchen.
To crochet the shawl, you will also need US 6 / 4.0 mm / G crochet hook, and a US 10 / 6.0 mm / J crochet hooks.
The pattern is designed for adults and is easy to follow, making it perfect for creating a simple, lacy, lightweight shawl or scarf that ladies will love.

4 clusters wide x 10 clusters high in pattern stitch = 4”x4” square, blocked.
Exact gauge is not important.

Foundation Row: Using larger hook, loosely chain 71.
Row 1 (RS): Beginning in 2nd ch from hook, work 1 hdc in each ch across. Ch 2,
turn. (69 hdc)
Row 2 (WS): Using smaller hook, skip 1st hdc. Work (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st, ch
2, skip next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st, ch 2, skip
next st, 1 sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st. Repeat until
end of row. Work 1 sc in top of turning ch 2. Ch 2, turn. (17 large clusters)
Row 3 (RS): (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 sp of previous cluster (in other words, the ch
1 of the 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc), ch 2, 1 sc in sc of previous row, ch 2 (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in
the ch 1 sp of previous row. Repeat until end of row. End with last sc in top of
turning ch 2. Ch 2, turn.
Row 4 (WS) + ALL remaining rows: Repeat Row 3 until right front panel measures
26” x 43” (blocked) or as long as you would like it.
Left Front:
(You will now be adding on to the shawl to complete the opposite side)
